It is sad that the price and value of human life are going down every day in the minds of politicians. Losing lives at the recent collapse of a shopping mall in Elliot Lake, Canada is a sad revelation of what the Conservative Harper government, with all its cutbacks, has done to rescue efforts (national and international) and how they have made Canada less that a third-world country,
When we, as people in Canada and even as voters, do not feel our government has any value, then it is time that we wake up and start to think about seriously voting it out. Today it is Elliot Lake. Tomorrow the tragedy may be even larger. Nevertheless, rescue is rescue and it matters not where.
The money-squandering Conservative government should start to realise that money should be spent where it saves life and not for a bunch of toy airplanes for Harper’s army that the people were misinformed about regarding huge associated costs. The money would have been better allocated to rescue support, helping Canadians in poverty and distress, saving jobs for Canadians and assisting senior citizens who are living at starvation levels. We now have so many people who are bitterly poor in Canada, even though this nation weathered the past economic downturns better than others.
As Canadians we need to awaken and look back at the Trudeau years where values were important as were the lives of Canadians.
As a senior, survivor of WW II and lover of humanity, I never imagined that Canada – considered the best place on earth – would have a government that would sell us out, and squander our resources. Then when help was needed, there was none for Canadians.
The sorry state that it has all slipped into is mind boggling. Honest voting has not to be a thing of the past but rather the treasure to be enacted for the future. Keep Canada as Canada and don’t take down our borders because not all Canadians want to be part of the USA. Even though we like our neighbours, we would like them to stay our neighbours.
I am asking for all Canadians to stand together and vote out Harper and his gang by demanding a new election be called. Let’s not wait for another disaster to take place. Call the media and voice your voice. The Harper government needs to learn to put people first and to have less fancy trips, better governing and more compassion. Stop the sell-out of Canadian resources.
Waiting 4 days and then presuming all left are dead in Elliot Lake is unacceptable and would not be tolerated in other countries with less resources are available.
PS – Please read my prophecies to learn where I see it all headed.
